Teddy Cruz, a proud native of Puerto Rico, grew up on the tough streets of Jersey City, NJ, where he discovered boxing as more than just a sport — it was a way out, a way forward, and ultimately, a lifelong passion.

At a young age, Teddy joined the legendary Bufano’s Gym, a historic boxing institution led by Hall of Famer Dominick Bufano. Known as the training ground for icons like Sonny Liston and Marvin Hagler, Bufano’s Gym became Teddy’s second home — a place where he honed his craft under some of the best minds in the sport.

Since those early days, Coach Teddy has gone on to work alongside boxing greats such as Arturo Gatti, Buddy McGirt, Sergey Kovalev, and many more. His experience at the highest levels of boxing — combined with his roots in old-school training — gives him a rare blend of toughness, technical skill, and teaching ability.

Today, as the founder of Evolve Boxing Club, Teddy brings that same passion, knowledge, and discipline to every athlete who walks through the door — helping beginners build a strong foundation and guiding experienced fighters to the next level.
